Who we are

Telugu is one of the world’s most ancient and beautiful languages, spoken predominantly in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with over 75 million speakers worldwide. Often called the "Italian of the East", Telugu is celebrated for its rich literary heritage and melodious expression. The famous phrase "Desha Bhashalandu Telugu Lessa"—meaning "Among the languages of the land, Telugu is the best"—reflects the pride and respect our language and community have earned over centuries.

The vibrant Telugu community in Toowoomba and surrounding regions continues to grow steadily, with families, professionals, and students contributing to the city’s multicultural spirit. Many Telugu-speaking families have made Toowoomba their home, enriching the local community with their culture, traditions, and values. Additionally, Toowoomba welcomes an increasing number of Telugu-speaking students who come here to pursue education and career opportunities.

In line with our mission to serve and connect the Telugu community, the Telugu Association Toowoomba (TAT) strives to represent and support the diverse Telugu-speaking population in the region. We aim to preserve our cultural heritage, foster unity, and provide a platform for community members to celebrate and share our traditions with the wider Australian society.
